Context
An invitation letter is needed to bring friends/relatives to Germany for family visit purpose. Also somebody living in Germany can sponsor for student visa, in this case the student doesn't have to open a blocked account with 10,332€.
But the question is what is the financial requirement to sponsor somebody? The official page doesn't tell anything concrete about the money. Gathered the following information during a visit to auslandsamt.
Please also note that it may vary case to case and also depends on the auslandsamt officer. This gives a rough estimate of how much income is needed.
Schengen visa (less than 90 days)
Typically to invite friends/family members for a 3 month visit.
Assumption: The host is living in a rented home, married and has a child invites two person.
Requirement:
3446.84€ net income per month.
OR 7500€ in bank account (just show them the current balance, temporarily borrowing money from friends also works).
Student visa (longer than 90 days)
Assumption: Host is the only earning person, living in a rented home and sponsoring one student.
